Why I Chose Yoga as a Way of Life (Not Just a Profession)
Why I Chose Yoga as a Way of Life (Not Just a Profession)
My journey with yoga did not begin with perfect postures or aesthetic poses. It began with questions about health, suffering, the mind, and the deep connection between the body and consciousness. Like many people, I initially approached yoga for physical wellbeing. But very soon, I realised that yoga addressed layers of me that medicine, motivation, or discipline alone could not reach.
What drew me deeper into yoga was its holistic nature. Yoga does not see the body in isolation. It understands that breath influences the nervous system, that the mind affects digestion and hormones, and that lifestyle choices silently shape our health over the years. This perspective resonated deeply with me, especially as I moved into yoga education, therapy, and research.
Yoga also taught me patience. In a world obsessed with instant results, yoga reminds us that real change is gradual, sustainable, and deeply personal. It taught me to listen to my body, to my breath, and to the subtle signals that we often ignore in our daily rush.
Choosing yoga as a way of life meant accepting that growth is not linear. There are days of strength and clarity, and there are days of fatigue, resistance, and self-doubt. Yoga does not promise perfection; it offers awareness. And awareness, over time, brings balance.
Today, as a yoga practitioner, teacher, and researcher, I see yoga not as a substitute for modern science but as a powerful complementary system, one that bridges ancient wisdom with contemporary understanding of health and wellbeing.
A mantra is not just a chant; it is a reminder, a repetition that gradually reshapes the mind. In the same way, yoga is not a one-time practice but a continuous process of awareness, alignment, and inner refinement. This blog is an extension of that journey. Through it, I hope to share yoga in a way that is practical, evidence-informed, and rooted in tradition, while remaining accessible to modern life. Whether you are here as a beginner, a patient, a student, or simply a curious reader, my intention is to help you see yoga not just as something you do, but as something you live.
Because when yoga becomes a way of life, healing is no longer a destination.
Yoga-Mantra is born from this understanding and was created as a space to return to this essence of yoga: slow, conscious, and transformative.
Hari Om.
